What a change in scenery. El Cabo de Gata, or more precisely El Parque Natural Marítimo-Terrestre de Cabo de Gata-Níjar is Andalusia's largest protected coastal area and it shows. It is sparsely populated, wild and desert-like. With the windmills popping up out of nowhere, you would think you are in La Mancha.

The coast, however, looks very different. Quaint little towns, lots of bays and crystal-clear water are to be found here. We immediately decide to come back and spend some more time here. In fact, I would like to visit every single little "cala" and "playa" there is. There are a lot, though. This picture here is of San José.

A little further up the coast, there are more beaches, bays, harbors, "miradores" and just breathtaking, beautiful scenery everywhere.
